Topic Series: Alcohol Use Disorder and Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

Co-occurring alcohol use disorder (AUD) and other mental health conditions present unique challenges for both substance use and mental health professionals. The extent of the AUD and the type of co-occurring mental health condition can make it difficult for clinicians to distinguish each condition and identify potential treatment strategies. These articles examine the current literature on the etiology, prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment of co-occurring AUD and mental health conditions.
